Capt. Howie Green |
The
Homosassa area flats and back country are a pristine area of the state.
Wildlife abounds. Manatees, dolphins, and birds can be seen, and the fishing
is great!
People who have fished the more populated areas of Florida love fishing around Homosassa. The comment most heard is, "I love being able to fish and not look at big buildings all over". Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the boat traffic is very light and almost non-existent on weekdays. Anglers will be fishing from a top-of-the-line, 17 ½ foot Eagle Flats Skiff powered by a 115-hp Yamaha Outboard. All tackle will be supplied, and is all first-rate. All the fisherman needs to bring to make his experience more enjoyable is something to snack on, plenty to drink, sunscreen, and sunglasses. While redfish, trout and grouper are available year-round, some fish are seasonal. The much sought after Tarpon is most abundant from late April through June. People come to Homosassa from all over the world at this time to try for a monster Silver King, and maybe a world record. Captain Green uses both medium light spinning tackle and fly tackle for these giants. Other fish available are Cobia, Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and many other species. Captain Green is a full time guide, licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, and fully insured. He is a retired police officer who has fished all his life - the last 11 years in the Homosassa area. A trip with Captain Green will be first class, and much less expensive than other guides in the area. His boat, tackle, and experience are first rate! Captain Green's full day price is $300, which covers one or two anglers. The price for a half-day trip is $225. A full day trip consists of leaving the dock at 7:00 a.m. and fishing until 2:00 p.m., returning to the dock at approximately 2:30 p.m. A half day trip would end at noon. A quality trip with Captain Green at his low price cannot be beat! Captain Green has many happy, repeat customers, so book your trip early! Captain Green is a member of the Culprit-Riptide Pro Staff, and a Shakespeare Tackle VIP. He is a member of the Field Staff for SPRO CORP and GAMAKATSU. Call 352-793- 5420 |
